Vista to XP help please

Hi there, I've been trying to install windows xp after formating over
my factory vista installation (which as useless).

I get this blue screen of death message every time

---

Check for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard drivers or hard drive controllers. check your hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated. Rund CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.
Technical information:
*** STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF78D2524, 0xc0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
---

My Laptop is a sony vaio VGN-FW139E

I think I need a way to install the HDD drivers for xp before installing XP but I don't know how with no operating system. Is this correct?

If so, the sony vaio support FTP site is down so I can't even get at them ATM, I attempted to download them via torrent, but it did not have the HDD drivers.

Please help me

This error appears to be related to boot devices, such as Hard Drives.

Burn the drives for your drive to CD, and have it ready when you try to install XP. During the installation process, you will notice there is a point where XP asks you to press "F6" if you need to install drivers that are not included in the XP Installation disk. It will ask for the CD, and it should find the drivers.

Re: Vista to XP help please

Thank you for the swift response.
I've attempted to press F6 at that point before and it doesn't direct me to install drivers at that point, it just continues through the installation process as if F6 was not pressed in the first place.

any other possible solutions?

Re: Vista to XP help please

I had this problem about 2 days ago after I installed SP3 for XP (odd isn't it). It is a pest of a problem believe me.
But Jerry is right, possibly your hardrive controller. I hope you still have your Vista recovery partition?
Did you consult Sony before you downgraded to XP? Some laptops (some HP Pavillion models) don't do the XP story and simply have hardware conflicts as XP doesn't have default drivers for them. In that case, you're stuck with Vista, you should contact Sony now because I think that is your best bet for now.

Many computers/keyboards require you to press the "F-Lock" key (or similar) before the F-keys become operatinal. Mine does. I have to press this button first, otherwise the pressing the F-Keys is unrecognized.
