HP Pavilion won't start up
Hello everybody. I have this HP Pavilion dv6000 that was being used regularly and then let sit for about two weeks. The person returned to it and used it for one day. It seemed to work just fine for that day. The next day it would no longer start up. When you press the "on" putton the lights above the keyboard do light up for a second but do not stay on nor does any part of the unit start up. Sometimes, if you constantly press the "on" button u will get the unit to light for a few seconds and it will sound as though it is about to power-up, but then everything shuts back down. Never through all that do you ever see anything happen on the screen. So another words, it does not start up to a point where as it comes up on the screen. I really want to get this working, but not sure where to go next. Bought brand new battery and charger already and no differance. So, what is next?

Re: HP Pavilion won't start up
Try reseating or replacing the RAM first and see if it behaves the same.

Re: HP Pavilion won't start up
If you are sure on the health of the RAM sticks, try stripping the laptop down. Leave RAM, mobo, and LCD (just make sure you leave the part that has the switch/power button). Power ON. if it behaves the same remove the LCD. From there you can conclude it could be the motherboard or not.
With an open laptop check the cables that plug into the motherboard. Make sure each one is plugged in securely. Once the laptop is stripped down and is powering up without shutting OFF a few seconds later, put each part back one at a time. Power ON the laptop each time you put a part back. Start with the keyboard then the hard drive, the CD/DVD drive, Wireless card (if any) and modem. Of course you can do it the other way around whatever is convenient for you.
