Dropped Water on Laptop...

hey all.,..i have a packard bell laptop...i dropped water on it and now it doesnt turn on at all....does not respond to the charger or anything,...
any sugestions before i take it to a computer shop as tht will cost me alot...thanks for ur time....feel free to write ur thoughts...

You didn't mention when you spilled the water. If recently, shut it down and don't turn it back on for a couple of days. If you're able, open it up and dry off any liquid you can see. I've heard various ways of doing this, and honestly I don't know what's best. Clean paper towels, Q-tips, hair dryer . . . my guess is the dryer would be best. Then just let it sit to make sure anything you missed evaporates and hope for the best.

hey qbawl.
ok this is how it goes. the laptop is about 3 years old. one of my friends dropped water on it 3 yrs ago and only wanted the HDD. so i removed it andd put the laptop aside (in my house) and now i saw it and wanted to get it up and running.
its has widescreen and is a celeron.
he dropped water on it 3 yrs ago. it hasnt been tampered with or opened up. just put aside

Well, I guess after three years it's probably as dry as it's gonna get. lol

My guess is that the something fried when the water spilled and you probably also need a new battery (and an hdd); the machine should have started while plugged in if all else were ok. Hope I'm wrong and the repair is minor. Good luck.

yea but i spoke to a professional and he said that it is very rare for a motherboard to burn. the only sugesstion is the power supply.
i guess its back to the computer experts
