Ibm a30 laptop thinkpad
Laptop has no lights when plugged in, won't start it has power from adapter and checked at socket for power and its ok. Help!!

Try a system reset. Pull out the battery and unplug AC adapter. Press power ON button for 30 secs. Put back battery and plug back the AC adapter. Power ON as normal.
If this does not help, check DC jack connection if it has come loose. Also try a charged battery if it powers up using battery alone.
