Hi,
I have an IBM Thinkpad type 1836, model BAU. A few weeks ago, a message came up when I opened Windows Media Player that said that there was an error and my music files were erased. Ever since that happened, I haven’t been able to run my computer except in Safe Mode. The blue screen of death flashes momentarily and all I can catch is something about a driver error. I tried going into Safe Mode and uninstalling the video driver but this didn’t fix anything. I also tried uninstalling any updates that occurred within a few weeks of the problem occurring but this didn’t help. Any ideas on what could be wrong and how to fix it? |

Re: Driver Error Problem
if you uninstalled the driver, you can be sure of one thing
there is no way it loaded in safe mode when you have video problems you load into safe mode for that reason it does not load the video driver it loads a generic low resolution driver,so you get a screen if you uninstalled it then it is no longer on the system and you will need to reload it

Re: Driver Error Problem
I was just corrected by my friend who was helping me. Apparently, after he uninstalled the video driver in safemode, the computer started again fine, in normal mode. At THAT point, the video driver re-installed automatically. The computer restarted like normal and seemed fixed for about 10 re-starts. Then it suddenly got the blue screen again after a couple of days. I un-installed the video driver again in safemode to see if that would fix it. It is currently uninstalled but I have not been able to get it to start normally again.

Re: Driver Error Problem
it will start normally without the driver being installed
that's why you have safe mode so you can get in to load the driver your friend must have had the driver to reload it,so you must have it there somewhere do you have a driver disk that came with the computer
