I want to downgrade my Toshiba Laptop A205-S5831 to XP. Do you know how I would go about doing that. Also where can I find the xp drivers for this model, and how can I install them.

Make sure you have all of the drivers for windows xp before downgrading.

Since windows was re-installed the thing that has to be done is to install all of the special drivers like chipset, buss, network, audio, video and others, they can be installed in any order you wish and can be found on the system recovery disk set for the computer if it is an OEM like Compaq, Dell etc. or if you do not have a recovery disk set the drivers can be found on the manufacturers web site for either the motherboard or the manufacturer of the computers web site. You can download these drivers and burn to a CD-R and then install those following instructions to reboot when asked.

One other thing you might want to try is contacting Toshiba tech support and find out if they have an option to downgrade to windows xp and if they do order the disk set for it, then you do not have to worry about getting the drivers they will be included.....

Hi there,
I have successfully downgraded slow Vista to Fast XP using nLite with integrated Intel Matrix Storage SATA HDD drivers and here is the XP Driver link for Toshiba S205-S5831 http://rapidshare.com/files/18897508...ers_For_XP.zip
when you gonna integrade the drivers, make sure that you add as: Insert > Single Driver > iaAHCI.inf and open. then shoose "textmode driver" (not regular PNP driver or you will end up with blue screen). then you can choose your laptop chipsen, (if you don't know which chipset, choose all, CTRL + A) and hit ok. then burn it again on regular cd and now xp setup should detect the SATA hard drive and proceed with installation.

The biggest problem is the SATA HDD driver. Download SP37005.exe from Hewlett Packard, run it to generate a floppy with the SATA driver. Boot from XPSP2 CDROM, press F6 during boot so install will stop during install for the SATA driver. You will need a USB floppy drive connected to load it. Other XP drivers are available from Toshiba's European site - US residents are screwed again.
