Return of Dreaded "Beep" and click
Hi! I'm new here guys and glad to be here. The problem is occurring with my Toshiba Satellite A215 series. I've had to have the hard drive replaced in it once already due to some clicking sound.
So, things go well for a while and then lately, at random, during random operations, games, music, etc..It makes a beep and immediate click right under where my right wrists sits to type. So, in the bottom right corner. It's an obvious vibration and the beep doesn't come from the speakers, it's more like..a grinding beep? It sounds mechanical, but a very definite beep. It's the first time I've heard one do this. It's like a screeching beep then grunting click. When it occurs, applications lag and freeze, then resume once the motion is over. Do you guys smell hard drive failure? Any information would be great, and thanks! P.S. This laptop is only 11 months old. Last edited by p33nman; 09-01-2008 at 02:35 AM. |

Re: Return of Dreaded "Beep" and click
If it's 11 months old you might have some luck left. Call the Toshiba to verify.
If you want to do this on your own, start with replacing the harddrive. If it is mechanical sound you hear, you might consider the fan and the optical drive too.
