vertical band (red stripe) in lcd display
Thanks in advance to any repliers, this is my first post. I have an HP Compaq nc8000 running windows XP with 1.5 Gigs RAM. Its an older laptop but it has always handle recording and mixing of sixteen simultaneous audio tracks while running numerous effects, something many newer laptops with better stats have failed to do. So I am partial to this little work horse. It is currently fully functional but the LCD Screen has a verticle band of flickering pink stripes (color will vary depending on background) a little left of center (see attached images). I hooked it up to an externail monitor and did not get the wertical band on that one. I was wondering if anybody else was having the same issue. Will replacing the screen take care of it or is it a mobo/graphics card issue? My brief research has indicated the lcd inverter is probably not the culprit, any confirmation of this guess?
Thanks again, Cory Last edited by electricfuzz; 09-01-2008 at 12:37 AM. Reason: missing info |

Re: vertical band (red stripe) in lcd display
Try replacing the screen (LCD assembly). Best if you can test out the LCD on another laptop first just to be very sure.

Re: vertical band (red stripe) in lcd display
Moving the screen about by slightly twisting it will sometimes give you your screen back but ultimately you will need a new screen here. I have fixed a fair few of these in my time and you need to be aware screens are expensive!

Check on ebay, they ususally have the components available second had cheaply, or a partial unit that you can buy and canabalise.
