Microphone Jack not recieving input properly
My microphone jack recently stopped receiving input properly. I frequently use it to record audio from an external amplifier using the program Audacity. Normally the input monitor in Audacity is level, with peaks to indicate input, but now the monitor is maxed out as if receiving continuous input, but no audio is recorded when I hit record. I have checked the configuration of both Audacity and Windows Vista, and can find no problem with them, they are configured the same as they were when it was working, however in the Windows sound window, I noticed that it has the same problem of displaying maxed out audio when none is being registered. I have attached screenshots of the sound window and the audacity window for reference.
I run Vista Ultimate on a Toshiba Satellite that is about 1 year old. I use a 1/4" to 1/8" cord to record input from a Carvin 4600 amplifier. I have tried to record with different amplifiers and cables but with the same results. Please help me fix this problem, I'm paralyzed without audio input! |
