Fluxuations with the Speed of my Wireless lan on Laptop... PLEASE HELP

Ok so heres the problem...

Im not that good with computers, so ill try to explain!

I have an Acer Travelmate 8100, and my wireless lan was working perfectly until recently.

When I turned my computer on and went on the internet, the speed of my wireless lan kept changing from 54 mbps to 24 mbps, and then to a full stop... then a few seconds later it returns to normal. it happens like every 2 minutes, and the sudden disconnections can last from 5 seconds to a few minutes.

Its frustrating as hell, especially when I disconnect from a good WC3 game or COD4 game.

Any ideas of whats going on???

THANKS!

Does this behave the same way when you are connected 'WIRED' to the router? If you are playing online games, connecting it WIRED is better than going WIRELESS.

Also try connecting to other wireless networks. I usually try it in the nearest FREE HOTSPOT WIFI ZONE (like Starbucks) and observe if I get the same symptoms. Should you try this and get the same symptoms, may be you should consider WiFi card replacement.
