Re: my laptop is not recognizing my dvd/cd drive
Hi all-
I'm having the same problem on my laptop and desktop. Both CD/DVD drives seem to have disappeared at the same time. I've tried many of the suggestions from MS, including uninstall and reinstall and nothing has worked. I get the same error code as Tatianah, but I'm using windows XP pro on the desktop and XP home on notebook. Both are Gateway systems. I haven't tried anything on the notebook yet, so I'll follow the above advice. I've been using Nero CD burning software, is there some problem with the burning programs that they have to be uninstalled and reinstalled to get the drive to work properly? Secondly, before I just simply replace the drive (it's a TSST Corp CD/DVDW TS-H552B), how difficult or easy is it to install a new drive? Will I have to do a system restore or is it just a matter of installing and having the computer recognize the new hardware? Thanks, Zeedonk |
