[SOLVED] HP Pavilion zv5000 Keeps Rebooting
Hey All,
So I just recently reformatted the HDD on my Pavilion zv5000 and have been trying to reinstall Windows XP but it keeps rebooting. It does this pretty randomly and i have gotten to various points of the install before it fails. The furthest has been roughly 9 minutes left in the install where windows is saving settings and finalizing install and then it just reboots. I'm currently running Memtest86 3.4, it has done at least 2 passes without any errors so far. So has anyone experienced something similar or know what the issue is? Thanks in advance |

Re: HP Pavilion zv5000 Keeps Rebooting
If you have not posted that you have run or is running Memtest86+, I would have suggested it. Given after 2 passes it has not showed any errors, may be it is not the RAM. Btw, you should test the RAM individually (if you have 2 installed).
I suggest you run HDD diagnostics. Get the diag for your specific brand of HDD currently installed. See the link HDD Diagnostic Tools in my sig. If you are using Toshiba, d/load Hitachi Drive Fitness Test. Get the CD image version (ISO) and burn it to a blank CD. Boot from the CD drive to enter diagnostic menu. Another way is to run a different operating system. Try Knoppix or Ubuntu. If it runs OK in linux then it could be your hard drive or your Windows installation could be corrupt. Do post back what you find out.
