laptop battery wiggin me out
i have a toshiba tecera m4 and it is about a year old. my problem is that the "internal" battery [the one on the bottom] allways reads zero charge when left alone. if i take it out and put it back in, my laptop will recognize it and charge it for about 10-15 minutes, then the display reads zero again and power management says that i have no "battery 1". if i remove it and reinsert it again, it reads as a higher charge, so it was obviously charging along the way. my second battery [slips into the space where the removable cd drive comes out] is allways fine. is there something that i can do to fix this, or is my battery shot?

Re: laptop battery wiggin me out
could try to uninstall and reinstall the toshiba power software, update your BIOS, or backup your data and use the system recovery discs that came with the computer (it will delete the entire contents of the hard drive and reinstall everything back to the day you pulled it out of the box).

Re: laptop battery wiggin me out
mmmm....unfortunately that's not an option. i got the laptop off ebay and it has all my graphics software on it [creative suite 2] and i didn't get the disks with it. thank you for that suggestion though. is there any settings maybe that i'm not aware of that i could tinker with? i looked for buildup on the power connections but i saw nothing...
this is not a major problem for me because i do have that other battery, but i would like to be able to use my cd drive while i'm on battery power.

Re: laptop battery wiggin me out
Looks like your battery is indeed shot. Try it on another Tecra M4 and see how it behaves there. Also try cleaning the contacts.
