Thumbs Down HP pavillion dv6000... won't start up! help!

Okay well, last night I stopped using my laptop because i noticed the charger had come out and it hadn't been charging and i was on 0%. So i plugged it in, put the laptop on hibernate and went to bed. This morning, I go to the laptop and shake the mouse, trying to activate it, but nothing happens, so I turn off the laptop and turn it on again. The HP screen comes up, so I know the screen's working, but then I get a black screen with a white flashing line in the top right corner of the screen. The light to show that the laptop is charging is not on, even though it is plugged in. If it IS just that the battery is dead, WHY isn't it charging!?!?!?!
PLEASE, any help would be appreciated. I leave the country on Saturday and cannot take it into a shop to be fixed because it will take too long. What should i do?
Thanks any one!

Consider getting a new one or to be sure test it on another similar laptop.

What should i do? -- I guess you have to leave it behind. Based on your description it could be a motherboard failure among others. Bringing it to a repair shop is one of the best option that you should consider.
Thanks any one!

-- when you switch it ON, any signs of life from the laptop (aside from what you already described above... I mean an LEDs that come on, any sound or activity from HDD and/or CD drive)?

Yes, there is a whirring sound like something's going on in there for about 10 seconds maybe after the HP screen disappears, but then it just sort of stops, like it's given up.

If you see the HP logo, try going to BIOS settings. Leave it at BIOS settings until as you said 'it stops'. Navigate through various pages of the BIOS settings, If it does not 'stop' or freeze or shutdown then may be i could be your hard drive.
