[SOLVED] Dell Inspiron 1300 DVD issue - NEED HELP!!!

OK ya'll, I need some help. I know Im over looking something, but cant seem to get this to work. I have a Dell Inspiron 1300 laptop, Win XP, with a Sony DW-Q58a DVD-RW. I can not get any sound when playing a DVD. I have updated / reinstalled the driver, updated the firmware, installed WinDVD7, updated XP just for the hell of it, but nothing seems to work. I can put a CD in all day long and the sound plays perfect. I even re-installed the sound card drivers to be sure that wasnt the problem. It reads data with no problem and will even play the video for the DVD without a hitch, just wont make a peep. Everything else sound wise works perfect, just not the DVD sound. Im beating my head against the wall on this one. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks,

Knot

Hi Knot,

Is there any way you can swap the DVD drive with a good/working one? Or you can try it on another computer via an adapter or external enclosure. That way you can rule out Windows or your laptop.

Re: Dell Inspiron 1300 DVD issue - NEED HELP!!!

Trigger,

I dont have another one that I can swap it for / or into to check. I can take it to work with me in the morning and see if anyone else there has one that we can do the swap with.

I let you know what I come up with then I get home from work tomorrow.

Thanks for the quick reply
