Acer 5610Z-Unable to install OS

I have an Acer 5610Z that a friend had in Iraq. He gave it to me to repair since it stopped working. I reformatted the hard drive and tried to install Win Xp and Win 2000 (at different times).
Kept receiving error messages and BSOD. Can any OS except Vista be installed on this model.

Thanks Joe T

What error messages are you getting? Also why not test your RAM with Memtest86+. Also test your hard drive using the hard drive maker's diagnostic tool (see my sig for d/load links). If your HDD is sata may be you need drivers for it to be able for XP or W2K to recognize it (F6 during XP install).

Re: Acer 5610Z-Unable to install OS

Very impressive list of drivers. I appreciate it. But I don't know which one is the SATA driver. Also one other problem. How do I get past the
NTLDR is missing error when I try to access the XP install CD from the CD?
I really must appear to be stupid. Sorry.
Thanks Joe T

See items #2 and #3.

Also one other problem. How do I get past the
NTLDR is missing error when I try to access the XP install CD from the CD? -- This is common if it is accessing the hard drive. Are you sure you are accessing the CD and not the HDD? If it is the CD then it is either you need to replace the XP install CD or better check your drive.
Btw, are you using a genuine XP and not a 'copy' ?

Sorry.
