[SOLVED] Dell inspiron 1521

Hi, i really need help.
i Recently installled Windows Xp on my Labtop which ahad windows vista basic. So after i installed it all installed all the drivers. but the speakers of the labtop are not working also the headphone jack aint working. So i really need help. I think i installed the wrong driver.So please anyone help Me.

Do you know what drivers you installed?
Can you check in Device Manager for any Yellow question marks?

Yes i installed Sigmatel High Definition Audio CODEC and it does have a yellow thing next to it.

Did you install the catalyst video drivers?
If not you may want to try these as they are the chipset and video drivers combimed. http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_ca.../integrated-xp
It's unusual that Dell doesn't show any XP video or chipset drivers on the D/L site.

ya i thought that was wierd also ya i installed the Catalyst video drivers already.
So should i take it to a technicion?

Which video drivers was it the same driver as the link?
Try uninstalling the audio driver and let windows search for another one.

Hi i am a Dell technician i might be able to help you. Did u install the drivers off of a dell cd that was supplied?

also each time i unintall it it installs back.
and i dont have the cd that i was suppliedwith my little brother scratched it while i was sleeping.

Uninstall it first in Device Manager. Then check ADD/REMOVE if it has a Sigmatel related program in that list. Uninstall as needed.

hey guys thanks for the help but i fond out that they didnt make a driver for xp for myt speakers so i had to upgrade back to vista xD my speakers work now thanks anyways for your time
