My System

5100 acer

my kid has a 5100 acer aspire laptop-
i put some wd40 on the locking tabs [which holds the screen closed]
unfortunately i must have got some on the back of the screen, upper right hand on the lcd which appears dis colored now. damn petroleum product. any ideas?

The WD40 must have penetrated thru the LCD. I believe it is too strong a product and should not be used on LCDs. The problem is I do not know of any product that could wipe it out clean off the LCD and if ever there is one, I am not aware of the effects on the LCD either.

Most locking/latches I have encountered are plastic and are just sliding between two metal thin metal posts/rails. No rollers or bearings involved. So WD40 is an overkill I guess.

it fixed the latches, but the over spray was an accident. it was not my intention to shoot the screen, i actually had paper towels covering it. i believe it ran down from the top.
