I have a Compaq Presario V6000 laptop. Recently, whenever I turn it on, it will show the Compaq logo and then the screen will just go black. The screen doesn't turn off or anything. Anyway, a few months back, it would just go blank while I was on the internet or just using it, and I could re-start it and it would be fine. Then after a while, when I turned it on, it would show nothing when it started up. If I didn't turn the laptop on for a week or so, and I would turn it on, it would work fine. But then after a couple days, it would go black while I was using it. Now, like I said in the beginning, it just goes to the Compaq logo and then that's it. So if you have any insight that would be great. I can clarify if needed because I know what I wrote was a bit confusing. Thanks.

My son has a similiar model(about six months old) he had the same. It required a new Hard drive( warranty).
When the comp boots press F2(it tells you on the boot screen) and go into the Bios . Look for Hard drive test( or something like it) run the test. It will tell you if it is good/bad. You can also run a Ram test ( same page).

Run Memtest86+ to test the RAM. Also run HDD diagnostics. Try Hitachi Drive Fitness Test. Both of these utils run from CD drive is you d/load the ISO (or CD version) files for each.

In another computer, d/load the ISO files to your Desktop. Use Nero or ImgBurn to burn the image into a blank CD. If you are using ImgBurn, right-click on the ISO file and select 'Burn with ImgBurn'. You will need to boot from CD drive using the CDs.
