Lenovo/IBM T41p boot up problem
Hi
I have a T41p running windows XP. I had started hearing wierd noises out of the fan, I decided to open it and clean up. i did this a couple of times (on different occaisions). The first time went without a hitch. i took the fan out, cleaned it and replaced it. On the second time, when closed up the laptop and turned it on, the system started to boot up, briefly gave me the Thinkpad/IBM screen, beeped twice and within a second or so shut down. I thought perhaps I forgot to reconnect one of the cables/wires. I checked and checked, but I can't figure it out. I also tried to go into Bios settings during the brief moments that the laptop was trying to bootup (by pressing the Access IBM button when it said so), but nothing different changed (double beeps, and then shut down). PS. the fan is still making the wierd noises and I supposed should be replaced, but that's a minor problem compared to this new one. Last edited by Ghanbar; 08-16-2008 at 05:41 PM. Reason: typo |

Did you reapply the thermal compound when you put the fan/heatsink assembly back on? Also try reseating your RAM.
