Toshiba Satellite 2535 CDS won't Start
My Toshiba Satellite 2535 CDS won't Start. After installing winxp the machine started a couple times then shut down and now when I hit the power button the DVD lites up, and three lights on the front light up but the screen remains black and the DVD doesn't seem to run.
I formatted the hard drive and removed the battery and unplugged the CMOS battery for 30 mins but it still doesn't power up. Any suggestions? Please help! |

Re: Toshiba Satellite 2535 CDS won't Start
When you say it does not power up, you mean there is no sign of life at all (no lights/LEDs coming ON, no sound/beeps, no hdd/cd drive activity, blank screen... as in nothing)?

Re: Toshiba Satellite 2535 CDS won't Start
LEDs on the front come on for battery, power plug, the run light, and the light on the DVD player. No sound/beeps, no hdd/cd drive activity, blank black screen and thye DVD will not reject to load DVD. Pretty much dead!!!!!

-- you do not hear any sound from the hdd? or do you see the HDD LED flashing? -- any clicking sound from the DVD/CD drive when you power ON? usually the LED on the DVD/CD drive door blinks during startup and you can hear some sound as if it is reading. do you hear such sounds? -- based on the description you have posted, it seems to me you have a corrupt BIOS or a dead motherboard.

Re: Toshiba Satellite 2535 CDS won't Start
Run light come on when I press the power on button, the Green LED with a emblem of the laptop openned below the LED.
-- No sound from the hdd? No HDD LED solid or flashing? -- No clicking sound from the DVD/CD drive when I power ON? usually the LED on the DVD/CD drive door blinks during startup and you can hear some sound as if it is reading. do you hear such sounds? No sounds at all! -- based on the description you have posted, it seems to me you have a corrupt BIOS or a dead motherboard. How do I check and repair the Bios? How would I upgrade the Bios for Win 2000 or XP? These are the only two lights that come on with battery power. With the AC plugged in, I get 4 LED lights: AC LED, Battery Led, Power on LED and the DVD/CD LED. Thank you, I really appreciate your help! |

Re: Toshiba Satellite 2535 CDS won't Start
If it is indeed the BIOS, you can have it reflashed or reprogrammed. Try BIOSMAN or similar service providers in the internet. If it is the motherboard, you can have it repaired or replaced.
You cannot upgrade the BIOS for W2K or XP. If you mean upgrade to support W2K or XP, check Toshiba website for any BIOS updates. Try resetting the system by:
If this does not improve anything, I think it would be best if you bring it to a repair shop for a more in depth analysis.
