My friend has a Zd8000 laptop. Recently it went dead and he notice the battery slowly stopped charging. After checking his sytem i notice his A/c adapter led light was not on. I volt tested the adapter go no reading ,so replaced with a new one.Battery still would not charge. Bought a new 12 cell battery and let charge overnight and it never got passed 37 percent. Also if you unplug the A/C Adapter the laptop would immediately shut down. Call Hp and they went through a series of test up and including reflashing the bios. The y said probably just a bad battery. So replaced battery with another 12 cell brand new battery.Once again let charge over night with the laptop powered off.Fired it up the next morning and battery said 100 percent charge.I thought finally. Unplugged from A/C adapter and laptop was running mint.Well here we are just a few days later and battery once again won't charge and as soon as I unplug A/C adapter unit goes dead. I would hate to replace the motherboard on this laptop that is barely 2 years old.I wasn't sure if it could be something else like voltage regulator. Help???

Re: Hp Zd8000 Laptop Battery Won't Charge
Just curious, is the AC adapter and the 'new' batteries original/genuine (not generic/universal)?

Re: Hp Zd8000 Laptop Battery Won't Charge
Both are oem replacements. A/C adapter has been tested and works fine. Not gonna buy a > 3rd battery. Appears to be another problem. If i bring it in to the shop they are gonna want to change the motherboard.

Re: Hp Zd8000 Laptop Battery Won't Charge
Oh ok if they are OEM then may be you can rest assured that they are performing well (as you said they were tested fine) but the downside of this is that it could then be the motherboard failing.
If you have a friend with a similar laptop that still has the HP genuine/original adapter and battery, try borrow them and use in your laptop. If tests show the same, consider mobo replacement.
