Phone line interference when charging laptop
Charging my Compaq Presario laptop seems to create phone line interference and causes my dialup Internet connection to be lost. I've replaced the AC adapter but the problem persists. I've also checked to see if the battery had been recalled and found that it was not.
The problem is consistent regardless of the location (my home, friend's home, etc.) and it doesn't seem to make a difference if the laptop is the only thing plugged in or if there are other devices plugged in to the same outlet. Any suggestions or ideas on how to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

Re: Phone line interference when charging laptop
Saturnine411 has probably solved their problem by now but I wanted to post for any future users.
I discovered this issue also and after hours of trouble shooting the phone lines and adapter cable, we determined it was the battery. Remove the battery and you should see your dial up internet connection restored to it's same old wonderful slow self. My husband explained to me that as the old battery breaks down, the insulation around the batteries creates static, which interferes with the phone line. |
