Re: my laptop doesnt power up

When you power on, does it look like it is booting (fan spins, hdd/cd activity, LEDs light up) but you just do not get anything on screen? If so, try using an external monitor so you will know if you have an LCD problem or not.

Re: my laptop doesnt power up

I have the same issue but a little diffrent, the computer is a Compaq V6000 and it will power up and I can use it all though it is a little slow. I go to power It off and then the next time I go to power it on it will not boot up. I have to let It sit for over 2 hours before it will boot.
I have taken the laptop apart and reseated the heat sink and the processor and cleaned out the case and main board buit I am still having the same issue. I do not have a lot Of money to swap out parts. The DC Jack is not the issue with or with out the battery it does the same thing, Relaced the power cable as well. Same issue. Please give me some ideas that I have not all ready thought of.

Re: my laptop doesnt power up

just curious question, any indication that power is coming in from the adapter? any LEDs the light up immediately when adapter is plugged in?

try this as sometimes it helps... remove battery and ac adapter then press and hold the power ON button for 30secs. or so. Release the power ON button, attach the battery and plug in the ac adapter then power ON the laptop as normal.

Re: my laptop doesnt power up

when i press the power button, the operation LED at the top of my laptop light up for about 3 or 4 seconds and if i press power button continuously, the rate decrease up to 0.5 sec. and sometimes the battery charger LED turns yellow and green simultaneously.

Re: my laptop doesnt power up

I would check the voltage of the psu with a voltmeter. Should be DC and it should be marked on the psu as to what it is. Looking at my Gateway psu, it says output is 19 volts.
