CD ROM not recognizing cds / Itunes

Hiya,

I just recently got an ipod for my birthday, and I downloading itunes and started doing my thang..and my cd rom stopped reading the cds. Autoplay would not work, and trying to start it manually wouldn't work. It just says theres no disc in F:. I fixed it once (think it had something to do with the default settings), (stupidly) imported a few more albums, and now it's doing the same thing again. It's been two days and I can't figure out what it wants from me!

So frustrating, any advice?

oh, and i have an acer aspire 5920 runnin vista.
