problems with my dvd rw cdrw matshita dvd ram uj 850s

Hello i have a HP pavilion dv6000 and my dvd rom is a matshita dvd ram uj 850s my problem is that I can't burn or read cds. it works ok with dvds but doesn't work at all with cds
Can you help me please?

Hi OmarA,

I would definitely test the CD/DVD drive on another similar laptop or use an adapter to test it on another PC. That is the only way you will know if it is your laptop or if it is the optical drive.

Try cleaning the lens first. Also try remove/uninstall in Device Manager and let Windows pick it up again during boot up.

hey... my dad's laptop have the same problem... its HP dv2000 version (im not sure which exact model), and the same matshita dvd drive (again, im not sure which exact model...).

it has the same problem. can only play DVD but not CD (once in a while only). But burning, i havent tried it for the past few months but my previous burning onto DVD and CD, its not working too =s cannot burn on DVD or CD.

i did post this problem at this forum before but there are no solution until today. Thats y im considering getting a new laptop now (see my post HERE).
