[SOLVED] Sound Problems

My friend purchase a HP zv5000 laptop at a yard sale for 15.00. I wiped it and reinstalled XP Home and all the necessary drivers. Everything works. I thought , The sound from the speekers stop working , and when I shut it down and started it up the next day the XP theme started but stopped half way through then no more sound from the speeks but when I used a head set there is sound through them. My quetion is , has anyone heard this problem on this modle of HP zv5000. If not I'll take it apart and check the wire connections inside. Thank You Al Cassell

Hi,

Try reinstall again and make sure all drivers are updated. A fresh install would be good. If that fails then may be you need to open it up. The speakers are wired and plugged into the motherboard so I am pretty sure they can easily be replaced. Use the hardware service manual for removal and replacement procedures.
