Keys slow to respond on keyboard

Hi -I am running XP Pro on a brand new laptop, and after working fine for 2 weeks, certain keys on the keyboard are now really slow to respond and I have to keep pressing really hard to get them to respond. Is this a hardware issue or a software one please? I've uninstalled & reinstalled the keyboard driver & rebooted but to no avail.

Try an external keyboard (USB connected or similar). If external keyboard performance is the same then try booting with another operating system like DOS or a live CD (linux or BartPE/XP). If the keyboard performance for both (laptop and external) is the same it could be hardware. If not then it could be Windows / drivers related.
