acer 5520g mouse problem

i relly hate acer!!!!!!!
okay heres the problem, when im on ac power my mouse wont work properly (its all jerky, like it works normaly for 4-5 sec and then it jest freezes for like a half second and the whole time its like that, after some time it stops working completely) and i need to use the touchpad which i realy hate.
the moment i turn on battery power - everything works perfectly well.

and sometimes if i have the mouse attached on the laptop when i turn on the my laptop it wont eaven get to the "acer screen" (the one that comes before windows loads....the one which says press f2 for bios...)
i cant understand why!?!?! why why o acer why????

im using win xp eaven though 5520g was made to be running on vista, but i was running it on xp before the problem also and everything worked just fine for 5-6 months..... i tried formating the windows partition and installed it again (sp3) but the problem persisted, i installed my mouse's original drivers but it still persisted....i tried to turn off the touchpad and after i did it the problem wanst gone...

i dont know what i should do anymore, im running out of ideas!!!! the only thing i didnt try is maybe update the bios....which im gonna try but am a little scared of.

pleeease help me if you know how....if you dont give me suggestions anyway please,
im so desperate

thank you

Re: acer 5520g mouse problem

Hi,

Is this a USB mouse? May be you should reinstall drivers or uninstall in Device Manager, reboot and let Windows recognize it again. Any sign of overheating? To be sure, check the vents/heatsink. Clean them as needed (use a can of compressed air). Also test your RAM for errors using Memtest86+.

If that does not work, try a different operating system. Try Knoppix LiveCD (I encourage you to do this) if it works with your laptop or try PCLinuxOS. Do this so we will know if it is Windows related or something is wrong with the hardware.

If it behaves the same in LiveCD, then it could be the mouse or your motherboard. If it runs fine in LiveCD, then try repairing WIndows, reinstalling drivers or do a fresh install of Windows.

Post back any result of the tests above.
