Unmountable_boot_volume

Hey guys, since yesterday I have been experiencing a huge problem with my computer. This is when I turn on my laptop, soon after I get the blue screen of death.

This is exactly what it says on the screen:

Quote:
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need.

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode.

Technical information:

*** STOP: 0x000000ED (0x82376C08, 0x0000006, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
I've read a million things to try and rectify my problem, but none help. I did the chkdsk /p thing in recovery console and that got stuck at 75% and so did the chkdsk /r thing.
The other day whilst still using my laptop, I put it down quite hard, could that have been the problem? Though it still worked then for the rest of the night, it was only the following night when I booted up again when this problem first occurred.

Any help at all would be GREATLY appreciated!!
Thanks in advance,
Stuart.

Re: Unmountable_boot_volume

One thing I forgot to add:

The other day I put it down fairly hard when I was angry, and it continued to work fine for the rest of the night without an issue, it was the following night when I went to start up my laptop when I received the horrid BSOD.

Could that have been why this happened? And if so, why didn't it mess up straight away instead of the next time I started my laptop up?
Cheers!

I can't even get to the login screen on my laptop because of this issue. I am on my desktop now.

I can't run the diagnostic utility on the hard drive when I can't even put anything on there because of not being able to get that far, right?

Re: Unmountable_boot_volume

download it on the computer you are on
put it on disk
then boot the laptop from the disk
it does the check before anything loads,so it does not matter that it will not boot into the op. system

Re: Unmountable_boot_volume

Not 100% sure, but it is a Powernote which is made by Digital Star I think.

Re: Unmountable_boot_volume

Alright I tried it and it didn't work. It just did the same thing as it usually does when booting up, Grr I dont know.
Hmm, so do you think that my laptop is pretty much gone now? Should I salvage the data and move on? If so, how do I do this?? I can't do it over the network obviously.
