Acer 9300 notebook running soooo slooow!

Hi,
2 days ago my child dropped our notebook and ever since it's been running like a dog. Below are a few things that have heppened:

1) It would only boot up in safe mode.
2) Then came up with kernel data inpage error once up.
3) I've now managed to get it to boot up normally (not doing anything in particular!) and the kernel error isn't happening but it's running sooooooo sloooooow!!

It's simply taking forever to do anything. I think there's a problem with the disk or the memory but wondered if you guys could help me confirm where the problem lies.
The notebook was running great before this happened so I'm assuming it's hardware?

Thanks in advance.

Grant.

Hi Grant,

Do some hard drive tests using your hdd makers diagnostict utility. Get that from the HDD Diagnostic Tools link on my sig. Also run Memtest86+ to test your RAM modules. Test the modules individually if possible for like 2 passes each. If not, run this overnight.

Start with these 2 first. Post back what you find out.

Thanks Triggerfinger.

It was in fact my hard drive.
Had to replace it. So changed it from 80gb to 160gb, so not all bad.
Thanks for the advice.

Oh and also replaced Vista with my old XP software ... what a difference!!
