My Toshiba Hard Drive

I have a Toshiba sattelite model 1955s805 and it went dead about a week ago. I have tried everything I can think of to try to get it working again with no luck. I just finished some work and saved it before it went dead but i didnt have a chance to burn it to cd. I need to know how I can get this file off of this hard drive. I dont know much about this stuff. If I took the hard drive out, could I put it another laptop, or would it have to be one the same model as mine? Please help me and let me know what my options are. I have alot of time in the work that is saved.

Re: My Toshiba Hard Drive

Hi, your best option is to use an external drive enclosure and connect it to a PC or another computer via USB.

Re: My Toshiba Hard Drive

You can take it out and put in a desktop computer or put it in an external enclosure.

Re: My Toshiba Hard Drive

Someone told me that if I tried to put my laptop hard drive in another laptop or desktop it would crash because all of the hardware settings would be for my toshiba laptop. Is this true or would it make a difference? Also what exactly is an external enclosure? and also how much does it cost? Thanks for the help

Thanks for the help
EDIT:
Make sure the enclosure supports your drive. If your drive is SATA get a SATA compatible enclosure.
