Laptop just turns off...

My year old laptop just decides to turn itself off..
its not overheating, was running heat testers and all were between 30 - 45 degrees C.

one thing that does screw with my head..it only crashes with windows installed..i think it did it once with linux (ubuntu).

it doesnt crash at all with mac osx86..

i have removed 1gb ram..leaving it with 1gb..tried different slots, diff sticks and still its pants..replaced the hard drive cos i knew it was dead (took out due to clicking, put in ext. case boom!!! errors!!)

i also know for sure the ati x1400 mobility is screwed over..everytime i run a game say counter strike source..it does some spaz glitching..makes certain parts of maps etc all spiky and shoots lines over the screen..

BUT i just need to know what the hell is going down with this machine..

throw any ideas...ive reseated the processors and reapplied thermal paste etc..so im clueless!
