Was using her Gateway xp6455 he was playing world of warcraft he exited the game but did not power down the lap top he just shut the lid now whe she trys to turn on the lap top sometimes the fan spins some times there is a very slight double beep but the monitor stays black any ideas what might have happened she is trying to avoid the "geek squad"

I think it may be stuck in some low power mode.

Hold the power button for a good 5-10 seconds.
Press the power button, and hopefully it will boot normaly.

If it does not, a sensor for the lid may be stuck or broken... It is so hard to guess what is wrong with it without more imformation or actualy being there to inspect the laptop.
