laptop freeze's after 2gb memory upgrade
Toshiba A135-S2256 satellite notebook freeze's after my 2gb upgrade, sometimes it runs for a while and other times it restarts right after the post screen? (computer post screen and system information shows installed memory correctly 1gb, 1.5 gb 2gb)
It will run on one 1GB stick at a time in either slot and will run on my old 512 sticks, but anything past 1 GB in any combination causes the freez-up's? My specs say the laptop can handle minimum 512 mb to maximum 2GB memory I confirmed this before ordering the memory. I believe the new memory is good since they both work when installed one at a time. Is there any settings that can be causeing this, do i need to re-install vista to correct this? (operating system windows vista basic spk 1) Any suggestions would be appreciated?? ![]() Last edited by pitman3 : 07-22-2008 at 04:10 PM. Reason: add operating system |

Re: laptop freeze's after 2gb memory upgrade
Good that's how you should do it.
I would contact Kingston They will support the purchase and will be able to tell you if any changes are required, or needed http://www.kingston.com/company/contact.asp

Re: laptop freeze's after 2gb memory upgrade
just my two cents....
may be you should try running a linux live CD or BartPE/XP. if you get the freeze then it could be the RAM but if you don't then it could be hard drive or Windows caused. also run Memtest86+ to test the RAM modules individually. Make 2 passes for each module.
