Acer Aspire 3000 KB DEAD After Opening Case

I've never worked on laps before and it apparently shows.

I noticed a lot of dust inside the case looking into the ethernet ports, decided to open the case up on my Aspire 3000 and blow it out, blow the dust out of the processor fan.

Laptop booted up fine, no signs of any problems until..........

attempting to use the keyboard.

While I didn't get the laptop completely apart, something was holding it together from the circuit board side i couldn't figure out. I settled on blowing what i could out from there w/compressed air.

To get to the point i could look down into the laptop from the wireless button/audio jack frontside, i had to unplug one small white fella, this had a catch you had to undo to get it on. A plastic locker basically.

Then a very thin, maybe 1/2 in. wide 4 inch long or so FLAT plug that WAS taped in place to the undercarriage. I had to pull IT out, not sure what it was. It was a pain to get back in, had to use patience(a ton of), a steady hand + tweezers to feed it back into its slot.

Those are the only things i monkied with, so im assuming maybe the 2nd plugin mentioned could be the problem as it may not be plugged in all the way?

At any rate, upon booting up, everything worked as normal, except for the keyboard being dead as a doornail.

I researched before posting so i didn't rehash and chunk something new on the pile of HELP ME's. Nothing seemed to fit my problem thus here i am.

Is that plugin mentioned FOR the keyboard and possibly not IN all the way? Again, the 2 mentioned are the only ones i did anything to, but that's not to acct. for something coming out or undone that i DID NOT see.

If you can help with this, it'd benefit me greatly. I've lost 2 tubes in a mic/preamp in my home studio due to a power outage(not related) and then THIS. I'm wondering when Im gonna catch a break.....

If the flat cable you removed previously was the cable of the keyboard, then may be you have not plugged it in very well. I suggest you get hold of a service manual so you will have guide on how to open up, remove and replace components.
