OS: ubuntu 8.04
|
Dear all,
here is my problem: When booting my OS and startup screen appears, there are weird display errors that are no bigger than a few pixels. Funny thing is, it happens when starting W2K as well as with Ubuntu 7.10. A few seconds later the laptop comes to a halt: mouse and keyboard frozen. When booting from a GNU/linux live-cd (Ubuntu, OpenSUSE) everything is fine, working for hours possible, no display errors. ![]() Background: Notebook CLEVO 4600, Pentium III-M (1066mhz), Phoenix Bios, ~5 years old. Appreciate any help, hints, loud thinking! ![]() Corny |

Re: installation of OS ok, but problems when booting
Maybe this is far fetched but have you tried testing your RAM for errors? Use Memtest86+ or if you have Ubuntu, I believe it has Memtest in the Live CD.
