[SOLVED] toshiba error 10008

Hi again.this error comes up when i try to load my operating system from a recovery cd.There is no current operating system on the lap top due to a strip down
any help much appreciated

have you tried any other CDs so far? by the way, run Memtest86+ to test your RAM first. run it on each individual module (if you have 2 installed remove one). run like 2 passes.

what is your drive A (CD drive, HDD, floppy)?

EDIT:
drive A usually points to a floppy. you are not using a floppy here, right? make sure there is no floppy disc inside your floppy drive. if there is one, remove it and reboot again.

just tried another operating system and it says no disc for some reason it wont read the disc but i can hear it spinning.is there anyway i can test the disc drive

test the CD media in another computer or use a known working bootable CD media in your drive.

do you think my disc drive it broke
can i spray he conections with a silocone spray in case its a dodgy wire

i just fiited another disc player no luck with the toshbia recovery disc,thought i would try a medion one then bingo its loading the operating system but why!

may be you have a defective recovery disc. why not use an XP installation CD?
