compaq V5000 laptop screen repair.....how does it work?
Hello all......
first of let me thank you for your time.. i have been working on laptops for a while now... i have had a lot of laptops with the same problem... the screen is distorted and has lines everywhere.. when you torque or twist the screen a bit the image either comes back like it was perfect or the lines change up or clear up a bit....this cant be a hardware issue or failure can it? i believe if it were a hardware issue or mainly failure the image wouldn't come back to normal at all.. which leads me to believe that it is a loose connection of some sort some where.... i have taken the laptop completely apart.. checked all the connections...tested the inverter...the inverter tested good.. all the connections were solid, but i removed them anyway and cleaned them.. i put it all back together and still the same result.. is there a way to fix this with out buying a $200 new lcd screen?.. there has to be.. it is not a constant failure which rules out total hardware failure.. and the images on the screen clear up completely if you torque the screen... i believe if it clears up then there is a short some where...but where it is i have no idea...i have researched the web for similar scenarios in which always result in the same fix...LCD REPLACEMENT...my customer cant afford to pay $200 dollars for a new lcd so i am on a mission to find a way to fix it w/o a replace... so please if you have any info about how the lcd works or why this issure occurs or how to fix this error with out replacement of the screen... please reply or E-mail me on yahoo my address is Levantar05@yahoo.com... thank you all once again for your time and efforts to help Rocky Dunklee Mt pleasant,MI |

It does look an LCD (hardware) failure. I do not quite understand when you say you 'torque' the screen. If you mean like moving the screen like closing the lid, then it could be the video cable. But I guess you have tested that too.
It would be best if you have a spare LCD to work with.

by the word "torque" i mean with your thumb and forefinger grap the corners of the monitor and with your right hand bend out and with your left hand bend inward

Forgive my ignorance but why do you want to do that?
