Re: Putting Toshiba laptop into standby mode turns it off
alright..
I did the whole F12 thing and booted up the cd from that.. It asked me 'which windows installation..' and I got through that and the admin password ok.. then it asked me for a prompt so after it showed " c:\windows> " so then I typed in CHKDKS.. then it says "type full path <including drive letter> for the location of AUTOCHK.EXE : CHKDKS " I'm not sure where to go from here. |

Re: Putting Toshiba laptop into standby mode turns it off
I believe you chose 1 for C:\Windows. It will then show you C:\Windows.
From there just type CHKDSK /R

Re: Putting Toshiba laptop into standby mode turns it off
I tried typing in CHKDSK /R like you suggested, after C:\Windows showed up, but it just keeps saying
"AUTOCHK.EXE cannot be found in the specified location" |

Re: Putting Toshiba laptop into standby mode turns it off
Enter this command in C:\Windows...
CD system32 The prompt should show C:\Windows\System32 Then enter CHKDSK /R command again.
