reformatting acer aspire 3000

hi i have a friend who's laptop is an acer aspire 3000 but the man he brought it off said it has to be reformatted with a special disk and im reformatting it because its really slow even with 1gb of ram and it freezes up the keyboard n mouse scroll lock up and its basicaly a peice of **** and i was wondering if it is true that it has to be a special disk because im using a normal xp home to do it now and it had xp professional on it before please get bak to me asap

any sign of overheating? you can expect freezing when laptop is heating up. as for the special disk, did it include the hard drive when he bought it? if yes, post the HDD details here and let us see if it would need a special disk for formatting.

hi i reformatted it umm it started freezing up as soon as the notebook started
he dont know about the special disc because he dosnt know if he actualy got it or not
it was second hand and they have no idea where he got it from.
i reformatted it and its all working
im just a lil stuck he needs a network controller
an audio one
a vga controller
and another 1
i dont kno where to get these from because like i checked the acer site and theres none for his model
so if u could help me on that it would be great thx.

help with travelmate270

hey iv finnished on his thanks for the info now im working on my shitty laptop n i used the site for drivers right but i tried to install the audio driver but it came up with a message saying "please insert the last disk of the multi-volume set and click ok to continue" and i dont kno what to do please get back to me

hi, bradley.
i had a same problem and i solve it withdrawing the battery.

i don't know if the problem is in the battery or in the mainboard.
