HP Compaq nx6120 hard drive

Hi guys,

I've just received a HP Compaq nx6120, it's minus a hard drive.

I purchased a laptop hard drive off ebay, http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....tem&rd=1&item=
270253184069&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=017

Thinking it would just plug straight in (silly me). But it didn't, so im guessing that laptop hard drives are brand specific? really I have no idea.
Is it possible to get an adapter for this hard drive to make it fit?
Or do I need to somehow track down a specific HP compaq hard drive?

Thanks in advance for any help you may beable to offer me!

Ashley

There should be a panel on the bottom of the laptop, which allows you to access the Hard Drive bay, then you slot it in and plug it in.

There may be a holder with some screws to keep it in place.

If you cant find it, take a photo of the bottom and upload it, see if i can find it.

How does it not exactly fit? It should be compatible.

Re: HP Compaq nx6120 hard drive

is it meant to have a cable going from the hard drive to the bay connection or is it meant to slot in?

thanks again so much

Re: HP Compaq nx6120 hard drive

It should just slot in.

Diagram (forgive my paint skills):

You see, there should be a holder, your HDD goes into there, then the HDD in the holder, should slot into the bay, and then slide into the Laptop Connectors, put a screw in the hold on the right of the holder and its done.

Does any of that look like yours?

No no, the connectors on the pic are from the hard drive, the hard dirve is in the holder, and the connectors poke through a slot in the holder, then the holder (with hard drive attached) slots into the bay, and the connectors connect.
