Toshiba Tecra 8200 laptop

Guys, hope somebody can advise.
When Ac adapter is plugged in Ac LED lights green and Battery charge Led light is amber. I then turn on laptop and the "on" LED is green. But no display or HD activity at all.
I have tried powering on laptop with DVD ,Memory and HD removed and still the same result, Ac adapter is green and power on light is green but no display not even a BIOS screen, or HD activity,no CPU activity either ,no fan .
I have hooked up an external monitor, no display either. Is this a new motherboard or inverter card that needs replacing?.
Model no. PT820E-05WQP-EN
Specs P3750/128/10/14T/C/LM

hi Digger01,

if you know how to reset the CMOS, try resetting that first. if not, may be you can try the steps here if they will work:
1. remove battery and unplug AC adapter
2. press power ON button for 30 secs. at least
3. attach the battery and plug in the AC adapter
4. power ON as normal

Re: Toshiba Tecra 8200 laptop

Right held in power button for 30secs at least and reinstalled battery and connected AC adapter, still only 3 LED lights on and no display.
3 led lights are ac,power on, and amber batt charge LED.
I have checked voltage on Ac adapter getting a good 15.3V DC.
I will dismantle laptop tomorrow and reseat and check the voltage of the CMOS battery.

Re: Toshiba Tecra 8200 laptop

correct me if i am wrong... when you power the laptop ON you get the LEDs to light up but fan does not spin. hmmm looks like your mobo is dead.

does your CD drive initialize (like trying to start and you can hear clicking sound)? do you hear your hard drive start to spin?

Re: Toshiba Tecra 8200 laptop

yup surely smells like a dead motherboard but then it is best to get a second opinion from a repair shop.
