Sound will not work, realtek?

I'm running Vista on an Acer Aspire 5050 notebook..and my realtek drivers suddenly do not work, or something. I get no sound!

ASIO4all means my ableton works fine, I can hear sound through that..because i selected the settings to play through ASIO4all.

itunes started by not playing anything, the progress bar wouldn't move etc, but could pause/play, msn said it was playing the track. then winamp, then windows media player, then the little "ding!" noise you get on the volume thing..
now any page with music on mozilla ie; myspace pages, slow down and stop responding.

recently uninstalled lots of acer stuff, like arcade. could that be the problem?

Tried reinstalling drivers etc, can't seem to get any answers off google, so I come to you!

I can't find the disc that came with my laptop either :(

please help!
