Another HP laptop issue.
Okay lucky me I have designated the computer guy in our town and I need help with another laptop. Since HP decided to pre-load a bunch of software, I find either it is not needed or works poorly. This one has been installed with Norton software. Now I thought I have removed all the software through various methods, Unistallers, the Norton unistaller, editing the registry. There is no visual sign of Norton on the computer. Thing is when I restart the computer and everything is loaded and window pops up and wants to install Norton. How do I stop this and how do I remove this. I do not want to use Norton, I prefer AVG instead.
The laptop is HP dv6500 Intel Centrino Vista 32bit |

Re: Another HP laptop issue.
I can only suggest trying their removal tool for failed or corrupt installs / uninstalls. You can get it here.

Re: Another HP laptop issue.
Yep tried that one, it removed it, well ate least it does not show up in the program files, the un-unstalled list.
I believe the laptop is set up in a raid configuration, if that helps any. There are 2 hard drives, one is the active one and the other is the back up. I open the back up and just get a message from HP telling this is the recovery partition. I hate Norton stuff more problem than it is worth. Thanks for the suggestion though. |

Re: Another HP laptop issue.
The recovery partition is just a section of the hard drive used by OEM's to facilitate OS reinstallation don't mess with it.
If you already used the norton tool(that should have done it) Try using Revo here: http://www.majorgeeks.com/Revo_Uninstaller_d5706.html |
