Scrolling does not work with touch pad. Have installed correct Synaptics driver

I recently purchased a Compaq Presarion C700 ( C770TU) laptop with no Os installed . Subsequently installed Vista Home premium .. Got the drivers as prescribed.. However only one problem remains .. That is

scrolling does not work . Either horizontal or vertical.. with the touch pad..

Hi,

when you installed Vista and before you installed the drivers did you notice if the touchpad works? I ask this because most often the touchpad works without the Synaptic driver.

The touch pad did work without any driver but NOT the scrolling functions..

Everything is fine now .. Maybe many are doing what I did ..
The model of the laptop shown is presario C700. This is what I entered when searching for drivers . And got the Synaptics driver. However the service tag shows the model to be a C770TU . On entering this I got a different set of drivers . This was an ALPS driver. Now all functions are fine..

use the service tag.... that is the exact model of your laptop. that also will give you the exact drivers that you need.
