Re: new world slacker

try with an external monitor and see if you get a screen. also in your LCD screen, after booting to Windows, put a flashlight near the screen and check if you see the Desktop beyond the dim background.

does your LCD screen in your laptop show some things like POST during boot but then turns black eventually? Or it remains black from power ON.

try a vga monitor. make sure you reboot the laptop after connecting the monitor.

if problem persists (no screen but laptop running), then your video card or motherboard is malfunctioning.

Re: new world slacker

hello, and thanks once again for your help, the screen is blank from the power on, straight from go, here is a sumary of what iv done, iv hooked it up to another screen, and its fine it does come through, iv tried the fn f10 key for brightness though no luck there, iv had a look at the wire thread, and the wires for the screen inside, and they all seem to be fine, no loose wires, im realy at my crackers end with all this, would anyone else know if theres anything else i could try? or with the things i have tried, does this narrow it down a little to why the laptop screen is blank, ohh also i would like to say, with it coming through on another screen does this mean my video card is fine? also the motherboard are these expensive? thanks for all your help

Re: new world slacker

if the LCD is black from power ON but works with an external monitor, then most likely you have a problem with your backlight or the inverter board. I would definitely start with the inverter as this is cheaper and easier to replace.
