Help ASAP Please! HP Fan Issues, Computer already disassembled
Hello everyone, I've had a HP dv8000t notebook for 2 years now and the fan recently died on me. They dont stock them on hp's site anymore but I recently found one on ebay, part number 403826-001. Now I disassemble my computer only to find out it's the wrong fan. (The actual spinning bit is in a different location as well as a heatsink) I guess dv8000 notebooks can have different fans. Anyway I can't find the correct fan anywhere and I don't want to remove the fan that is currently in (removing thermal paste etc.) just to find the part number which is on the bottom. Now I did remove a lottt of dust and stuff with compressed air, so is there any way to test the current fan with out putting everything back together(literally the whole computer, pain in the butt) Or, is there a way to remove only the spinning fan bit from the new fan and attach it to the old one. Sorry but I'm in a real bind here and do not know what to do. Thanks in advance.

yes you can but you have wire it to a DC battery.
