Laptop Wireless Advise

I have a laptop that i set up to the internet from the main broadband modem but which i run via wireless almost all the time. Problem,my wife has just come home with a new laptop that she wishes to use online too.

Do we need to connect her laptop like i did with mine by setting it up to the main modem (which was a pain by the way) or can she just search for a connection and connect using the router and my network. Will there be any foreseeable problems with this?

Thanks.

Re: Laptop Wireless Advise

do you have a wireless router attached to your broadband modem? if so, is the router set up with security encryption (WEP, WPA, etc.)? if you don't have any key or password set, then your other laptop can just search for available network and click on the SSID of your router to connect. if you do have a key or password set, it may be required during the connection process.

Yes wireless is set to broadband with encrypted password. So she'll just have to enter this on connection, that's it? That's not a problem.

Re: Laptop Wireless Advise

as per your previous post, you just need to set it up like the one you did before. i had the same initial install problems with a Linksys router. i need to save the config in a USB flashdrive and install it on the other laptops that connects wirelessly. i do not understand why i need to do that when i am just asked the key during connection but i get 100% success if i use the usb flash drive than just entering the key myself.
