Laptop & hifi
Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with laptops and hifi? When I plug my laptop into my amp I get a consiberable buzzing noise. This also happends with my friends two laptops and used to happen with my old laptop. However when I unplug my laptop from the mains the buzzing stops completely. I've told that this is a "Mains hum loop". Does anyone know a way to solve this? Other than takeing the earth of the laptop or amp.
Thanks in advance! Wisey |

Re: Laptop & hifi
turn your gain down on the amp, as well as on the computer. a high gain can create all kinds of annoying buzzing. A good rule of thumb is set the amp to between 1/2 and 3/4 way, same with the main volume out in windows sound controller (or equiv), and use the amps volume knob. lower gains if needed, lowering amp first.

Re: Laptop & hifi
Okay, forgive me for being stupid, but I don't understand what you mean by gain. Unless it's internal, this babe: http://www.danny.mcnulty.btinternet.co.uk/sug1.jpg (not my acctual amp, mines beige where this is silver) dosn't have a Gain control. I've only ever seen gain controls on guitar amps and the like.
Thanks! |
